Orange and Pomegranate Juice Ingredients
This recipe takes just 2 ingredients and a little patience to deseed the pomegranates. All you need is:
- oranges
- pomegranate
And that’s is!
How to make this Orange and Pomegranate Juice
Prepare the Pomegranates:
Grab those pomegranates and a big cutting board. Slice them open with a sharp knife. Now, here’s the fun part – deseeding. It might take a bit of patience, but trust me, it’s worth it. Save those little jewels (arils) and ditch the peel. Pro tip: Do this over a bowl to catch any runaway arils.
Blending the Pomegranates:
Reserve a couple of tablespoons of those precious arils for a fancy finish. Now, toss the rest into a blender. Hit the pulse button until those arils break down into a luscious, thick smoothie. But hold up, we want pure juice, right? Pour that thick juice through a strainer. Give it a good strain until there’s no juice left clinging to those seeds. Say goodbye to the seeds, and hello to that liquid pomegranate gold. Pour it into a big, glamorous jar.
Oranges Take the Stage:
Now, grab those oranges. We’re talking citrus heaven. Cut two of them in half. Take one half and slice it into thin, Instagram-worthy circles. Toss those orange slices into the jar with the pomegranate goodness. Now, the remaining orange halves – squeeze out every last drop of that liquid sunshine into the jar.
Mix and Taste:
Give it a good stir. Now comes the important part – the taste test. If it’s got a bit too much zing for your tastebuds, no worries. Add a couple of teaspoons of sugar and about a cup of water. Stir until it’s the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Your taste buds will thank you.
Serve with Style
Time to impress. Pour that vibrant orange and pomegranate elixir into a fancy glass. Don’t forget to add back those reserved pomegranate arils for that extra pop of sophistication. Sip, savor, and revel in the glory of your homemade masterpiece. Cheers to your refreshing creation!
If you prefer your juice extra chilly, add a few ice cubes. They not only keep things cool but also add a pleasant clink to your serving ritual.
Storage tips
To keep your freshly made orange and pomegranate juice as vibrant and delicious as the moment you made it, follow these storage tips:
Refrigeration is Key:
Immediately after making the juice, store it in the refrigerator. The cool temperature helps slow down the oxidation process and maintains its freshness.
Airtight Containers:
Transfer the juice to an airtight container or a glass jar with a tight-sealing lid. This prevents exposure to air, preserving the flavor and preventing any potential contamination.
Avoid Light Exposure:
Store the juice away from direct sunlight. Light can degrade the quality of the juice over time. Opt for an opaque container or store it in a darker part of the refrigerator.
Short Shelf Life:
Freshly made juices are best enjoyed within a short timeframe to capture their peak flavor and nutritional value. Aim to consume your orange and pomegranate juice within 24 to 48 hours for optimal taste.
Give it a Shake:
Before serving any stored juice, give it a gentle shake. This helps redistribute any settled particles and ensures a consistent taste.
Avoid Freezing:
While you can freeze some juices, the texture of this particular blend may not be as enjoyable after freezing due to the presence of pomegranate arils and orange slices.
Remember, the goal is to preserve the freshness and flavor, so storing the juice in the refrigerator in the right conditions will maintain its quality for a delightful sip each time you open the fridge.
