Homemade Healthy Orange and Pomegranate Juice helps you get an instant vitamin boost!
We’re having unusually warm weather here and also, flu season is upon us. What with our Healthy January resolutions we think it’s time for some immune boosting!
We’re loading up on vegetables, smoothies and healthy meals in the hope of avoiding illness and we created another antioxidant / immuno-boost drink!
This Antioxidant Orange Pomegranate Juice takes just 2 ingredients and a little patience to deseed the pomegranates. Then place arils in a blender and blend to break down the arils, pour through a strainer and you’re almost done!
We’ve had a couple of pomegranates laying around, as we rarely seem able to actually eat them, so I thought why not juicing them to load up on vitamins! As I do not own a juicer, the combination of blender + strainer is the next best thing!
Pomegranates are really good for you and we should all be taking full advantage while the season lasts. Not only are they rich in vitamins and antioxidants, but they are also delicious as well! Have a couple sitting in the fridge? Take them out now, make this juice and you can thank us later 😉
Homemade Healthy Orange and Pomegranate Juice
Homemade Healthy Orange and Pomegranate Juice helps you get an instant vitamin boost!
Ingredients
- 5 large pomegranates
- 2 organic oranges
Instructions
- Cut pomegranates open and deseed. This may take a while, depending how skilled you are at deseeding pomegranates. Save arils and discard the peel.
- Save a couple tablespoons of arils for later, place the rest in a blender, and pulse until the arils break down and you get a thick smoothie. Pour the juice through a strainer and make sure to strain really well, until no juice remains on the seeds. Discard seeds and pour juice in a large jar. Add the saved pomegranate arils.
- Cut 2 oranges in half. Slice one half into thin slices and add orange slices to the jar with pomegranate juice. Squeeze juice out of the remaining halves, and add juice to jar.
- Stir orange pomegranate juice well and taste. If it is too sour, add 2 ts of sugar and 1 cup water to dilute and stir to combine.
- Serve.
